The Brosnan School of Irish Dance is located in San Rafael, California.  Dance director Lisa Brosnan-Hynes is licensed with the Commission of Irish Dance in Dublin Ireland as well as a registered member of the North American Irish Dance Teachers Association and the Western U.S. Region Irish Dance Teachers Association.

Lisa began dancing in 1974 and went on to win many awards in her career as a dancer.  Lisa has participated in local, regional, national and world championship competitions.  She has also toured the United States with the Grammy Award winning Chieftains and performed with many other talented Irish musicians and artists in Celtic concerts and festivals over the years.

The Brosnan School of Irish Dance has been offering classes since 2003.  The Brosnan School of Irish Dance participates each year in the San Francisco St. Patrick's Day Parade.  The school won first place for best Irish float in 2007, second place in 2008, and second place in 2009.  The school has many dance recitals each year for all students to participate in.  In addition, we have have added a Spring show in which the dancers are beginning to explore other aspects of Irish performing arts.  Please check our events page for information on the date and time of our next Spring Show.

The school has many dancers who have chosen to participate in Irish Dance competitions and have been having great success and a lot of fun bonding with their classmates and meeting other dancers from around the world!

At the Brosnan School of Irish dance, dancers are instructed in traditional Irish Step dance choreography focusing on timing, foot placement, posture, and stage presence.  Dancers build a healthy self esteem while having fun making friends through dance and music!
